Eat for Your Brain Fitness

As we age we start experiencing memory and concentration problems. Here a brain fitness comes in being handy.

Brain fitness is kept up through something called essential fatty acids (also called omega-3s). There are called "essential" because it is essential that you get them from your diet (your body cannot make them). Your brain needs these to keep everything running well -- these fatty acids help keep oxygen supplied to the brain and keep the cell membranes healthy.

You can get essential fatty acids from some great and healthy foods like nuts (and seeds), avocados and some kinds of fish. These foods are also health for your heart and other parts of your body.

Be sure to get a good supply of them for brain fitness and for overall health.

Eating a well-balanced, healthy diet not only has the benefit of helping you fit into your favorite pair of jeans, but it can also help you reduce your risk of chronic age-related brain diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. Current research in diet and brain health has shown that nutrition plays a large part in brain development and function throughout the life cycle. There are changes you can make now to prolong the health of your body’s most vital system, your brain.

I'm always interested in brain fitness and the research to support it. This blog seems to encapsulate the recommendations for eating.
